The Knees debut EP, Posture, is at once intricate, confident, and direct. This collection of songs is the first to truly represent the band, and is an eclectic mix of punchy art rock, post-punk, and melodic guitar-pop.
Twin Peaks’ Cadien Lake James recorded the EP at Chicago’s Treehouse Records, while Greg Obis from Chicago Mastering Service handled the mastering. Posture was pieced together over the course of two, day-long sessions. Each instrument was recorded live with one respective track and no overdubs. Although the band was never fully together in the same room, usually two or three at a time, Posture is cohesive, and attests to The Knees’ focus and connection.
Although this is their first collective work, it sounds like a well-oiled band that’s been together for longer than just a few years. The band hopes to always be “evolving, spontaneous, and open - looking forward to what’s in store next.”
The Knees is David Miller, Wilson Brehmer, Davis Connors, and Ben Goldman.
